Step into a world where your imagination becomes 3D! In this hands-on family workshop, you will use cutting-edge VR technology to paint in mid-air—sculpting colours, shapes, and stories all around you. No art experience needed, just curiosity and a sense of adventure.
This workshop blends creativity, technology, and play—letting everyone, from young children to grandparents, step into the artist’s seat. It will be an immersive and unbelievably fun time for all.
Participants will:
– Visit Benedict’s art studio (near Coney Island) and explore 3D-scanned plants of Singapore in VR.
– Learn the basics of VR painting using Meta Quest 2/3 headsets, with personal guidance from Benedict.
– Experiment with 48 motion brushes and animated colour palettes.
At the end of the workshop, participants can:
– Take photos with their VR artwork in an Extended Reality (XR) environment.
– Bring home a high-quality printed copy of their creation.

Biography:
Benedict Yu is a Visceral Reality Artist, mixed reality educator, and affective reality researcher working at the intersection of art, technology, and spirituality. Based between Singapore, Taiwan, and the EU, he creates virtual sanctuaries and immersive spaces designed to foster communal healing and self-reflection, particularly for unseen and marginalised communities worldwide.
His practice explores the transformative potential of digital environments as spaces for spiritual introspection, collective storytelling, and emotional restoration. Through his transdisciplinary research, Yu continues to push the boundaries of mixed reality as a medium for healing, cultural preservation, and human connection.
Yu’s work has been exhibited internationally in cities including New York, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Seoul. His works are held in major collections such as Mapletree Investments Singapore, Mediacorp Singapore, the Courtois Collection (Paris), GAW Capital (Hong Kong), and Panxing Construction Development (Taiwan). His projects have been presented at renowned institutions and venues, including the New Arts Museum Singapore, Asian Civilisation Museum, SomoS Berlin, Zwölf Apostel Kirche Berlin, the Courtois Collection Paris, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the National Museum of Singapore, the National Design Centre, Gillman Barracks, Gajah Gallery, and Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti.
Notable projects include his invitation to exhibit at 29Rooms with VICE Media (alongside Billie Eilish and other major brands), Singapore’s largest indoor 29-meter mural commissioned by GR.iD Shopping Mall, the Rebirth installation with Pelago by Singapore Airlines, XR project with the New Art Museum Singapore to transform Yayoi Kusama’s works into mixed reality experience, and contributions to major cultural events such as Singapore Art Week, Berlin Art Week, Singapore Design Week, the Berlin Temple of the Body Rave Music Festival, and Passion Art Festival by People’s Association Singapore.
Yu’s contributions to the arts have been recognised with several awards, including the TCYH Millennium Trust by Mapletree Investments (2023) and the Berlin Kiez Film Festival Award (2024).
Beyond his artistic practice, Yu is an active educator and speaker, serving as a guest lecturer at institutions such as the National University of Singapore, the University of the Arts Singapore (LASALLE/NAFA), Hungkuang University (Taiwan), and Institut Polytechnique de Paris (France).
